Workshop 1. Fishing, Sea and Art

This workshop will be divided into three phases, with Puerto Naos as the point of departure. It will begin with the presentation of the participants, followed by a visit to the tuna-fishing boat of José Luis, who will talk about his everyday activities at sea. The second part of the workshop is aimed at exploring the landscape surrounding the port, including a hike to Playa de la Arena. In it, two tents, with all the equipment required for the third part, will be used to share ideas about how to search for microplastics, which will then be used, together with other debris found by the sea, to create an artwork on canvas, with fishing as the main theme.

The meeting point will be the pedestrian access to Playa de la Arena, although the workshop will take place in the parking area. It will begin with the presentation of the participants. They will then start sieving the sand on the beach to find microplastics. The goal is to raise awareness about the need to protect the environment and to learn how important fishing is for the island. The activity will end with the creation of an artwork with fishing as its main theme, made from the microplastics and other debris found by the sea.

Laura Melián Corujo es maestra especialista en Educación Infantil con más de doce años de experiencia en la docencia. Apasionada de la educación, el arte y la ciencia dirige desde hace tres años Alegría, ludoteca en Arrecife donde aplica su visión personal del aprendizaje, despertando la curiosidad por el conocimiento mediante actividades y propuestas abiertas a la investigación, al error y a la experimentación libre. Su propuesta busca la creatividad mediante la participación activa e inmersiva del alumnado, con especial énfasis en la educación en valores, el respeto personal y colectivo.
