Stalker

Military patrols impede access to an area where, according to locals, extraterrestrial craft crashed, leaving behind strange, unidentifiable materials. This abandoned territory is now a forbidden zone that seems to have a life of its own. Paths seem to change direction, sounds fade and even the air has an unsettling silence. A guide familiar with its changing trails leads two men who are searching, perhaps without admitting it to themselves, for something they cannot find. Through mist, puddles and rusting structures, every step calls for caution and leads to even greater uncertainty. The Zone, inscrutable and patient, seems to listen to their innermost doubts and then return them altered in some way, as if in its heart it were hiding a promise that can never be revealed.
