Summer arrives in a rural village in inland Turkey and the heat bears down on the land. Every drop of water is eagerly awaited and disputed. Under the overpowering sun, the life of the whole community revolves around the flow of a spring. The fields harden and crack, animals search for shade and people look to the sky, hoping for relief that never seems to come. In this dry landscape, an ambitious farmer decides to take over the water source for himself, cutting it off from his neighbours, who have always depended on it. Tension spreads like a fissure: whispers, veiled threats, secret meetings, attempts at resistance. Amid heavy silences, suspicions looks and desires beating below the surface, the drought reveals both the best and the worst in those who endure it.
