The idea behind this workshop is to think Lanzarote through the sounds that tell the story of migration on the island. Participants will learn soundcapturing techniques and will experiment with different instruments to capture soundscapes and voices that can narrate a journey through the aural memory of the territory.
This workshop will be held in conjunction with the “Putting Together a Soundscape” course. Some of the classes will be held jointly and will outline a sound narrative that tells the story of the phenomenon of migration through a “blind film”, an imageless sound film that will be presented during the festival.

This workshop provides an opportunity to get hands-on experience on how to make a soundtrack through the creative and orchestrated organization of the treatment of sound recording. The workshop will engage with the development of a sound idea as well as the analysis and execution of the different tools of postproduction, with the goal of putting
together a coherent sound narrative.
The workshop will be held in conjunction with “Notes for Aural Cinema. Listening and Sound Recording” led by Amanda Villavieja. Together, they will jointly make a “blind film”, an image-less film exploring the central theme of this year’s festival: migration.

Dialogue on the creation of images based on reflections about the gaze. The gaze as the starting point for the creative process; the why of creation and the place from where it begins. Learning to look, and looking to learn. Emotional light, available light and its “true and revelatory force”.
Underscoring the process of creation of images based on photographic work. Searching for ways of ensuring that these images engage with and question the theme of this year’s festival: migration.
