In a dialogue between the past and the future, Escuchar la sombra (Listening to the Shadow) rescues the anonymous voices of Cubans who crossed the ocean to fight in the Spanish Civil War. Through previously unseen footage and archival materials recovered in cities across three continents, the film reconstructs the silenced memory of those who bore defeat with dignity.
