Papillon

Trasfoco

A sailor known as Papillon (Butterfly), named after the tattoo on his chest, is sentenced to life imprisonment in French Guiana, where he must serve his entire punishment. Any attempts to escape will result in harsher penalties, including extended periods in solitary confinement and eventual transfer to the dreaded Devil’s Island. Insisting on his innocence and driven by an unyielding desire for freedom, Papillon relentlessly seeks a way to reclaim his lost life. Along the way, his bond with Louis Dega, one of France’s most infamous forgers, also sentenced to serve time far from the mainland, deepens. Together, they reveal the overwhelming strength of loyalty in even the most unbearable circumstances.
