In a mining region of Brazil where rivers have been the very backbone of life for countless centuries, the water begins to bear a weight that is not its own. Mired by mounds of toxic mud and enforced silence, entire communities stand by as their land grows fragile, as if the earth itself were struggling to breathe. Gigantic dams, teeming with waste from local mines, project only the illusion of safety.
