SECAS – DEFENSORAS DE LAS AGUAS

In different regions of Chile, where water is a source of life and also of conflict, several women raise their voices to defend their rivers, their lakes and their communities. Peasant women, mothers, young activists and Indigenous leaders fight against extractivist projects that wasn’t to take control of the water or contaminate it without consequences. Faced with threats, criminalization and all kinds of violence, they keep up a daily fight rooted in their deep bond with the land and the memory of their peoples. Their words, their marches and their steadfast silence speak of a courage that exceeds all boundaries. Each testimony moves forward like a line of fire, showing us that to protect water is also to protect life.
