Over recent decades, hundreds of millions if not billions of CCTV cameras have been installed all over the globe to record each and every aspect of reality: no matter how big or small. Everything is now subsumed in a surveillance regime that would have been unthinkable and unacceptable only twenty years ago. Recording, security, proof, archive and follow-up are words associated with this visioning process that puts the whole world under scrutiny all the time. This visual regime is by no means neutral, but rather responds to a meticulous and precise history of control; a power that goes well beyond whoever manages the cameras and becomes an omnipresent form of controlled life.
