After the disappearance of Pablo Escobar, the Orejuela brothers and the big drug cartels, Medellin, a city in Colombia once known around the world during the 1990s for drug trafficking and violence, has evolved considerably, is still suffused with anxiety and oppression for many of its younger inhabitants. Some of them spend they everyday lives without much hope, dealing with a precarious present and avoiding looking toward a future riddled with uncertainty. Unprotected sex, partying, alcohol or drugs attenuate or mask that sense of unease, while violence against the LGTBI+ community sometimes reaches uncontrolled brutality. In that environment, life or death is like a lotto always calling out new numbers.
