For a long time, the Janubio salt-flats were one of the important productive industries in Lanzarote. Hundreds of salt-flat workers toiled under the hot sun every day to extract the salt demanded by the booming preserves industry and by the boats that fished in the Sahara banks. Many decades have passed since then and now the salt-flats only produce a tiny percentage of their true potential. All that remains is the fragile, almost vanished memory of those who one day worked in the extraction of this white mineral.
