Epitaph

The conquest of America by the crowns of Castile and Aragon is probably one of the most pivotal moments in the history of humankind. Hardened men, hungry for glory and fortune, ventured into unknown territory bringing with them blood, fire and the bible. One of them, Diego de Ordás, fought under Hernán Cortez in the conquest of Mexico. There he became the first European to ascend the holy volcano of Popocatépetl. The glory of that climb to the summit of a mountain over 5,500 metres high became his greatest Epitaph.
