Trasfoco: The Volcano Section
Into the Inferno
Few natural phenomena have the power to stun and impress observers and scientists as much as a volcano in eruption. Very few events are so overpowering and awe-inspiring: the lava spewing from the crater and running down the slopes like unimaginable rivers, the deafening roar, the plumes of ash and smoke rising kilometres into the sky. Fascinated by the way humans have been mesmerised by volcanoes since time immemorial, the German director Werner Herzog travels around the world in the company of the renowned British volcanologist Clive Oppenheimer to visit some of the planet’s most spectacular volcanoes.
