Some of the strictest ultraorthodox Jews in the world live in Beneï Brak, a town on the southern outskirts of Tel Aviv. They belong to communities who are absolutely convinced that the Torah contains the supreme laws by which the world ought to be ruled. Despite the respect for tradition, the continuity of customs, strictness in praying and the separation of men and women on which they are based, these communities nonetheless hide a murky secret: sometimes, the proximity of the men teaching the Scriptures to young pupils oversteps the boundaries of a merely spiritual relationship.
