MS Slavic 7

Audrey, a young Polish-American student uncovers a series of letters between the poet Zofia Bohdanowiczowa and the writer Józef Wittlin in the library at Harvard University. The bureaucratic workings of the library and the cold aseptic environment in which she moves are starkly contrasted by the subtle contents she discovers in the letters. She comes across intimate details of the life and passions which the poet, her own great-grandmother, and the celebrated writer shared with each other. In the light of a time when affects were put down on the flimsy material of paper, today’s world seems to have become a cold, flat and almost dead place. Everything is now a stage set and a digitalized representation of itself: from personal conversations to sexual relations.
