My Mexican Bretzel

Official Section

Seeing everything. Recording everything. Archiving everything. And therefore possessing everything… always. Habits that today have turned into an obsessive and compulsive drive: to photograph and film everything nonstop. In the last century, only people with deep pockets could afford that kind of power to meet their desires. The price of films severely limited options to the wealthy. Léon Barrett, a pharmaceutical industrialist, was able to indulge his hobby and filmed his everyday life down to the tiniest detail. Vivian, his wife, is turned into the object of his gaze while she writes her own diary: images with words, or perhaps images versus words to confirm that, no matter how much we want to capture life, everything is modified under a false appearance.
