Trasfoco: The Salt Section
Salt Garden
The way in which salt crystals are formed by the constant gradual work of the sun is a radically slow process; in this change, which takes place at an almost imperceptible pace, water is transformed into extraordinary forms: small crystals, stones, crusts and foams. It is not surprising to recall the irresistible attraction these processes held over alchemists over the course of many centuries. This is a unique process in which the natural environment works alongside man to give rise to something that is not only useful and necessary but also beautiful. The salt pans have a particular relationship with gardens and with flowers: the sun, the earth, water and the hand of man all work together to achieve something extraordinary in a profoundly slow process.
