Trasfoco: Fishing

Filippo is a young man who lives with his mother and his fisherman grandfather in a small island near Sicily. For centuries, the locals have been working in the sea, the main source of the island’s economy. But, with the passing of the years, the logic of mass tourism has drastically transformed life in the small town. In just one generation, all the boats dropped their anchors and now seem to be useful only as an attraction for urbanites. However, the new economy is overturned by the unexpected arrival of a different kind of traveller: desperate migrants who need the help of the locals, while the authorities penalise any type of rescue or any expression of solidarity.
